Sounds like this is a FF/Medic position, but that they don't require any certs to apply, that they'll train you if hired.

The Newport News Fire Department is currently accepting applications for the position of Firefighter/Medic. The application period is open until midnight on September 20. We are not requiring any industry specific certifications for this process. Applications must be completed via the www.jobs-nngov.com site, and test registration is handled by the NNFD Training Bureau by calling 757-969-1800 after completing the application by September 23.
