ANNOUNCEMENT BY THE ACT 78 POLICE AND FIRE CIVIL SERVICE COMMISSION
EXAMINATION FOR ENTRY-LEVEL POLICE OFFICER ELIGIBILITY LIST
The Police and Fire Civil Service Commission will be accepting applications for the position of POLICE OFFICER to
create an employment eligibility list for future employment opportunities. The City is an Equal Opportunity Employer. The
position of Police Officer has a current salary range of $40,718 per year starting salary to $63,976 after four years.
APPLICATION PERIOD AND HOURS
Applications will only be mailed to applicants living 50 miles or more from the City of Roseville. COPIES OF ORIGINAL
DOCUMENTS MUST BE SUBMITTED WITH MAILED APPLICATION. ORIGINAL DOCUMENTS MUST BE
PRESENTED FOR VIEWING PRIOR TO THE WRITTEN EXAM. INCOMPLETE APPLICATIONS WILL NOT BE
ACCEPTED.
Applications will be available:
• Monday, May 9, 2011 thru Monday May 23, 2011 at the Personnel Department.
• Completed applications may be returned to the Personnel Department between the hours of 9:00 a.m. to 11:00
a.m., and 1:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m., Monday, May 9, 2011 thru Tuesday, May 31, 2011.
*Please note City offices are closed on weekends.
Application Deadline:
• 3:30 p.m., Tuesday, May 31, 2011 (INCOMPLETE APPLICATION WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED)
Written Test:
• 6:00 p.m., Tuesday, June 21, 2011
Oral Examinations:
• July 18 thru July 22, 2011
*PLEASE NOTE: INITIALLY A MINIMUM NUMBER OF APPLICANTS WITH THE HIGHEST WRITTEN SCORE SHALL
GO ON TO THE ORAL EXAM. THE REMAINING QUAILFIED APPLICANTS MAY BE CONTACTED FOR ORAL
EXAMS IN THE FUTURE IF ADDITIONAL CANDIDATES ARE NEEDED.
REQUIRED ITEMS AT TIME OF APPLICATION RETURN
1) Michigan Commission on Law Enforcement Standards (M.C.O.L.E.S.) current certifications, bo th tnan
physi , are required.
2) Must bring original high school diploma or G.E.D.
3) Must bring proof of completion of one of the following:
A. Associate's Degree; or at least 62 college credit hours.
B. 2 years of experience as a certified police officer in the State of Michigan.
C. 2 years of out-of-state experience with State of Michigan certification at time of hire.
4) Must bring valid driver's license.
5) Must bring original/certified birth certificate showing applicant is age 18 or older.
6) Applicant must be a U.S. Citizen or have naturalization papers.
7) Must not have been convicted of any violation of the Penal Code.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
• Must successfully complete a written and oral examination administered by the Act 78 Police & Fire Civil
Service Commission.
• Must establish residency in Macomb, Wayne, Oakland or St. Clair County within one (1) year from date of
hire.
• Substance abuse testing is required before hiring.
