Fire Recruit -- Phoenix, AZ -- Closes 8 April at 5 pm, apply online

The Phoenix Fire Department has recently been awarded SAFER grant funding and will be filling 42 Firefighter Recruit positions. Firefighter Recruits are trained for protective service work in the Fire Department. Recruits are sent to the Phoenix Fire Department Training Academy for 12 weeks of basic recruit training followed by nine months of structured training and evaluation. Basic recruit training covers firefighting operations, emergency medical and transportation services, physical fitness, and other related subjects. After successfully completing the Academy, recruits become firefighters. Presently, the Firefighter salary range is $46,149 - $65,302 annually.

Recruitment closes Friday, April 8, 2011. All materials must be received by 11:59 p.m. on this date.

Salary

Firefighter Recruit: $22.19 hourly / $46,155 annually.

Job Requirements

- Must be at least 18 years of age by April 8, 2011.
- Proof of valid Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) Certification from the State of Arizona is required at the scheduled date of your final selection interview.
- Proof of successful completion of a Candidate Physical Ability Test (CPAT) from a licensed agency is required at the scheduled date of your final selection interview.
- Ability to read and comprehend written material at a level appropriate for this assignment. Applicants with at least a high school diploma or GED are preferred (reading material used on the written exam, during the Academy, and on the job will be at approximately grade 14 level).

STEP 3:
Take the written exam. The multiple choice written exam is scheduled for Monday, May 9, 2011. Approximately 70 percent of the test questions will be derived from the 2011 Firefighter Recruit Study Guide. The remaining test questions will consist of reading comprehension, basic math, and mechanical aptitude. Previous score cannot be reused.
